Avalon's Spring Workshop Series was very successful thanks to the wonderful facilitators, and everyone involved. We are very grateful to Hylcan Foundation for sponsoring this series.

We are looking forward now to the Fall Workshop Series, which will be held on the North Shore and will be sponsored by West Vancouver Community Foundation.

Food for the Body and the Soul
Sunday, May 4, 2008, 1pm - 4pm

Women in recovery from addiction have many chemical changes taking place in their bodies. They may have never learned about basic nutrition, and how food can affect and enhance health and happiness. In this workshop, we'll explore: how food affects mood, how a healthy body enhances the recovery process, which foods act as triggers, weight gain/loss, emotional eating and body image.

Codependency - The Problem and the Solution
Saturday, May 24, 2008 2pm - 5pm
This interactive, safe and fun workshop will include education, story telling and sharing by participants. We will discuss codependent behaviors, the illusion of control, shame and the lost self. We will focus on the solution to healthy relationships through spirituality and twelve step programs.

Meditation for Stress Reduction
Sunday, June 8, 2008, 1:30pm - 4:30pm
In recovery it is crucial to learn new ways of not only coping with but flourishing in the face of all that life throws at us. In this afternoon, participants will have an opportunity to experience a variety of meditations that can be easily incorporated into everyday life in order to reduce stress.



Emotional Sobriety
Saturday June 21, 2008, 2pm - 5pm
This workshop explores the nature of addiction and impulsive behaviors and how to overcome them. Through teaching and experiential exercises, participants will learn how to apply discipline of recovery and self-regulation, increase one's tolerance for success and joy and deepen their spirituality as a way of life.
